How to Use Video to
Drive Free Traffic to Your Website

By Benny Traub

If you need to drive more traffic to your website, here’s how you can leverage YouTube, now the 2nd most popular search engine in the world. YouTube receives more searches than Bing and Yahoo. In fact, over a Billion people regularly watch videos on YouTube.

YouTube is a great source of new business once you learn the 7 steps to siphoning viewers back to your website.

Step Number 1; produce a short video.

Number 2, add a special ending to your video that encourages viewers to visit your website. Be sure to include an image of a button. (see example below)

Number 3, display this special ending for 15 seconds at the end of your video, and add a countdown, from 15 down to 0, which will add a sense of urgency. (see example below)

Number 4, optimize your YouTube channel to allow button clicks to your website by verifying your identity and the ownership of your website. The instructions provided by Google are not as good as they could be, but they do work if you don't give up.

Number 5, do some keyword research to find out what your prospects are searching for. You are looking for a keyword that gets a good number of searches, and is likely to be used by a qualified buyer.

For example, the keyword ‘life insurance’ might get a lot of searches from job seekers and competitors, but a keyword such as ‘how to choose the best life insurance’ will get you more qualified buyers.

Number 6, upload your video to the optimized YouTube channel and enable button clicks on the video using the annotation feature.

Number 7; promote the heck out of your video so that it shows up on page 1 of search results for your keyword.

If you follow all 7 steps, here’s what will happen:

  • Users who search for your keyword phrase will see your video in the search results.
  • A percentage of searchers will choose your video and view it.
  • A percentage of those viewers will click the button at the end and be transferred directly to your website.

Any traffic you get from this strategy will be absolutely free.

If you need to ramp up your traffic even further, you can also pay YouTube to push your video to the top of their search results for every keyword related to your industry.

The more money you send to YouTube, the more prospects they’ll send to your website. And you have the ability to set your budget as low as you like, even as low as a dollar per day. Once you are satisfied that this strategy is working for you, you can scale your traffic simply by increasing your budget.

That's it!

By the way, the same video can be used on your website, on TV, at tradeshows, or as part of your sales presentations. All you do is swap out the call to action at the end for something more appropriate, such as ‘fill out the form on this page to receive more information’.
